as women, we are constantly bombarded with "beauty" expectations. the media, magazines and stores are subconsciously and directly telling us that we have to look a certain way to be beautiful. this destroys self-confidence, causes constant worry/anxiety and makes us believe we aren't good enough for certain things (outfits, photos, events...you name it - we've all been there).
i love the movement that many women and companies are making to overcome this concept that all women have to look a certain way to be beautiful. but it's still so hard when every other media outlet, etc. is not following suit. as women, we need to encourage each other, love each other and understand that "another woman's beauty is not the absence of our own." we need to celebrate and embrace our differences. we ALL have beauty to contribute to the world. my advice: keep hyping each other up on those Instagram selfies, praise each other when we achieve goals, surround yourself with positive, powerful and inspiring women. together, we can destroy beauty standards and appreciate the diverse beauty we all have. ❤❤❤ (image source: pinterest: the_calliest on Instagram)

cuticles feeling gross and dry? use this quick and easy recipe for cuticles that feel healthy and refreshed: `mix together some white sugar and your regular hand soap that you use for washing, until you have a consistency that includes more sugar than soap. it's really that simple - you're done! put a small amount of the mixture on your hands and rub into your cuticles. rinse with warm water and massage in your favorite lotion!
we all have our favorite body care/beauty products, and recently i've been crushing on a particular three for my face, lips and skin: what: in a new york minute - glycolic face mask where: perfectly posh cost: $14.00 i've been craving brighter skin and i think i've found the product that helps me with that. this five minute face mask cleans pores, removes dry skin and leaves your face feeling refreshed. i use it before bed - perfect for settling into sleep. what: just peachy - tinted lip balm where: sunrise soap company cost: $3.00 i've recently been enjoying wearing lipstick, but found i had to sacrifice moisture. while browsing my favorite local soap shop, i found this lovely tinted lip balm! it serves the purpose of providing moisture AND color. i'm obsessed with this product already and will definitely be purchasing more. what: handmade natural soaps where: sunrise soap company cost: $5.00 each i adore our downtown soap shop and i've been purchasing products there for years. nag champa has been my recent go-to scent because it leaves the bathroom (and me) smelling wonderful after i shower! i'm excited to try the rose scent i picked up the other day - it already smells amazing sitting in the bathroom. sunrise soaps are my favorite because they are handmade with amazing oils that leave my skin feeling great. (the above products and my opinions of them are not related to the companies whatsoever. these are simply my favorite products and my ideas regarding their effectiveness)
