as downtown york, pa continues to revitalize, locals are making their own efforts to contribute. the york flea is a street fair flea market held in the charming cherry lane. the york flea features handmade and vintage goods - showcasing the creative talent we have right here in south central pa. this past saturday, i had the privilege to cover the event - and grab lots of goodies! keep reading to see what i found! daydream flowers was the first vendor to catch my eye. fresh cut the morning of the event, each flower was full of vibrant color and fragrance. loom & co. featured various handmade items such as bags, laptop cases, pillows and jewelry - made from materials from west africa and south east asia. i couldn't resist buying this beautiful turquoise cloth necklace - the perfect summer accessory! upcycled souls' treasures shimmered in the morning sunlight - with many items that intrigued me, the simplicity of these silverware key chains really spoke to me. in the midst of her horror-movie inspired art, i was attracted to this particular piece that featured cherry lane, the location of the event. sandra grippi is quite the artist! the cute and crafty vendor, black sheep everything, featured fairy-tale like creatures made from sheep's wool, along with other figures made from wire. i loved this vendor because with every piece of art, the smallest details that i would never even think of, were included. rupert beard humored me with his sarcasm and puns - being a coffee lover, i certainly couldn't walk away without purchasing this punny sticker. if you're a york, pa native, he has a variety of items related to our area for you to show your love! white rose bar and grill has become a favorite destination of mine since turning 21 (for booze and food - the crab dip is to die for). it's a downtown staple, located directly across from central market. my fiance's favorite beer is miller high life, so when i saw their booth selling old beer items, i was ecstatic to find this beer bucket - the perfect saturday surprise gift. stevie storck is a local interior designer (check out her site - she is SO talented!) i was excited to find her both at the flea and to take home this beautiful hand lettering print as well as a piece of vintage calico pottery ! keep cool cody was my most inspiring find of the day. a young, local photographer, cody was so polite and so eager to talk about his work. i enjoyed his spark and feel honored to have a piece of his work in my home now. for a complete list of vendors that were at the july flea, visit: www.yorkflea.com/2016-events/. if you missed this one, don't worry! check out the next two york flea events coming up: saturday, august 19 and saturday, september 16. if you're interested in becoming a vendor, visit: www.yorkflea.com/vendors/. for those of you simply wishing to visit, please do! the fun thing about this event is that you never know what you're going to find - so each find is special. it's also a great way to support our local talent and get to know downtown york. since central market is open the same time as the york flea, grab a coffee and some breakfast and enjoy your morning in cherry lane! hope to see you next time!
